Just Cruising

Cruising has spotted some interesting wildlife in the last couple of days including:

A lizard on the concrete foundation at Pascagoula River's Audubon Center who'd have not been able to be seen had he not moved. The foundation has some tinge of green from mildew, but light grayish-brown tint nearby in one spot, too. This fellow managed to match it all. Amazing....

Ruby-throated hummingbirds vying for a spot at the hummingbird feeder right by the Center's window. Highly territorial, two of them buzzed after each other like F-15's in a dogfight....

The Northern Mockingbird doing what we call "the wing thing" - opening and spreading his wings repeatedly for the purpose of scaring insects out of hiding....

The wasps working the American Beautyberry's leaves and berries - intently so....

Miss Golden Silk Spider (and her fella) still hanging out at the house. How she will like Tropical Storm Fay's 40 - 45 mph winds and rain, we'll see in a few hours....

A juvenile raccoon spotted last night at Gulf Island's National Seashore in Ocean Springs, MS who climbed a persimmon tree to choose his favorite ripe persimmons. Cruising hopes he knows his persimmons. One bite of a persimmon not ripe enough would surely send him packing.

Cruising hopes all along the Gulf Coast take proper precautions for Fay's arrival. While not a dangerous hurricane, she can spin tornadoes and cause flooding, as the folks in Florida will attest.
